Immigration Limitations May Have an Impact on Your Chinese Takeaway

We all completely take it for granted that when we call our local Chinese takeaway, there are plenty of staff on hand to prepare the food and deliver it to us. But, following years of mounting pressure from the public, the newest coalition government have been forced to start applying strict limits on the number of non EU immigrants entering the UK.

This means that people that are traditionally brought in from places like China and even India to keep these culinary industries going are on the brink of a massive staffing shortage. In the future, such food outlets are going to be forced to approach places like job centre Glasgow in order to recruit their workforce.

Now, there are plenty of people who would believe that this is actually a very good thing - after all, we would be recruiting within the workforce that already exists in the country and not bringing in more and more people who are only swelling our population.

Others will argue that UK citizens are not the right choice for two reasons: firstly, they will never have the relevant cooking skills to achieve the level that is expected. Secondly, very few UK citizens are prepared to work in these types of establishments and on the low wages that are being offered.

Perhaps the solution here would be for these establishments to offer a more competitive salary in the future and they will need to offer excellent training within their premises. There is hardly a shortage of such takeaways at present, therefore, it may well be a case of the cream of the crop rising to force out the businesses that do not really hit the mark.
